Acetate printing
I used cut outs from newspaper articles about the NHS, the government and statistics surrounding the Coronavirus for the backgrounds of my prints. My intentions were to highlight how people are feeling and the effect the pandemic is having on schools, businesses, mental health and well-being.
Rather than leaving my images as they were, I wanted to take them a step further and experiment with different printing and physical layering techniques instead of using digital techniques. I decided to cut into my scrapbook to create a frame for the sheets of acetate to fit into which worked perfectly. I love how the newspaper is visible through the plastic as well as the images, and how the light shines through it to expose the graininess and tones of the prints.
